Join me for a flavorful journey into the world of Greek beekeeping and gastronomy. I’ll share the rich history of Greek beekeeping, a tradition my family has upheld since 1935, brought to life with artifacts and stories from our heritage.
• We’ll start with a honey and olive oil tasting at my family’s Melira shop, sampling eight rare monovarietal honeys like carob, heather, and thyme and olive oil from our olive groves .
I’ll share stories about how we relocate beehives to areas with specific flowers and plants, and you’ll enjoy cutting and tasting fresh honeycomb .
• Next, we’ll visit a nearby spot to try handmade loukoumades (Greek donuts) topped with monovarietal honeys, praline, and traditional spoon sweets like black cherry and grape. At another cozy location, you’ll savor Greek yogurt paired with different honeys, discovering how each enhances the yogurt’s creamy richness.
• We’ll finish back at the shop, where I’ll answer your questions, share tips, and help you find your favorite flavors.
You’ll leave with a small jar of honey, handmade soap, and sweet memories, along with a deeper appreciation for Greece’s culinary traditions.
